FDO's Clean & Green Initiatives

FDO is ensuring Green and Affordable energy as cross-cutting themes during implementation of all projects. Since 2012, Farmers Development Organization (FDO) is engaging a large number of beneficiaries under different projects and mobilizing and sensitizing them over Green and affordable energy.

To protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions, FDO is encouraging and providing to community members biodegradable bags to promote their usage, annually ten thousand trees under different projects are planted, and converting households from electrification to solar energy. In this regard, FDO under project Interest-Free Loan-IFL is providing 300 million interest-Free Loan to 9000 households and ensuring that every household is protecting and cleaning the environment (minimum usage of plastic bags), at least one tree plantation at the household level and each beneficiary either household or entrepreneur will start using solar energy and will promote it.

FDO has also promoted a sense of better living by developing a model village in District Muzafargarh for 166 families where all the households were converted from electrification to solar energy. Farmers’ development Organization has also installed one solar water filtration plant in the union council Lutafabad, District Multan and that has not only provided safe drinking water but has also cut the operational cost by 80%.
