Theme-I: Improving Economic and Social Wellbeing of the Poor through Equitable Measures (SLED)

Geographic: UC Chak Farazi and UC Azizabad of District Muzaffargarh Project Duration: September 2023 - April 2026 Project Goal: To contribute to the eradication of poverty and hunger for resilient society where women and children are optimally nourished. Introduction/Background of Programme: Farmer Development Organization with finical support of Norwegian Embassy and WHH is implementing project “Building Resilience through Improved Food and Nutrition Security” in two union council’s Chak Farazi and Azizabad (8054 household in 68 villages) Tehsil Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh.  This project aimed at enhancing the food and nutrition security of vulnerable communities especially pregnant and lactating women and children under 2 years of age, have sustainably improved their nutritional situation by applying a multi-sectorial approach (agriculture, natural resource protection, and WASH and nutrition education)”. Key Achievements/ Activities:

  • Establishment of Food Diversified Garden
  • Farmer training on bio-staple food production
  • Tarpaulin sheet provision to demonstrate reduction of in-field post- harvest losses
  • Demonstration plots for Bio-Fortified high yield staple crop production
  • Responsive Drip Irrigation Schemes
  • Formation and activities of School Nutrition Clubs in High Schools
  • Vouchers of support packages for treatment of severely acute malnourished (SAM)
  • Development and Review of Recipe Books
  • Provision of support for early warning communication tools
  • Consultative workshops with early warning agencies, disaster management authorities and communities
  • Training on nutrient rich food production diversified gardening
  • Round- Table sessions on Bio-Fortified staple crop production in Arid Zone ( District and Province)
  • Grain Storage bins provision
  • Rehabilitation of Irrigation Schemes
  • Rehabilitation of safe drinking water sources/ schemes at communal level
  • Household latrines construction
  • Training on awareness raising on Food preservation, processing and storage at household level
  • Toolkit provision to the BHU Staff
