CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS' BUILDING RESILIENCE THROUGH IMPROVED DELIVERY, GOVERNANCE AND EMPOWERMENT (CSO-BRIDGE) PROGRAM

Theme-II: Strengthening Peace and Democratic Governance (P&DG)

Geographical Coverage: Multan Programme Duration: January 2021, June 2024 Introduction/ Background of Programme: With the technical and financial support of Welthungerhilfe (WHH), the CSO-BRIDGE project is newly started to address the broken lines between community and service providers, youth, and their income-generating opportunities, public social service delivery, and Training Service Providers will be engaged in employable skill development. CSOs will be enabled to bridge between these target stakeholders. They will advocate for improved service delivery and thus reduce socio-economic vulnerabilities. This project does not only include creating livelihood opportunities for youth but also includes capacity building of civil society organizations, development of UC development plans of 10 UCs, and later on related local authorities will be contacted to fulfill needs identified in UC development plans. Key Achievement/ Project Activities

  • MoUs were signed with 20 CSOs
  • Direct Beneficiaries benefitted from program are 2340 (1,394 Males, 756 Females, 27 TG) inclusive 117 persons from religious minorities and 46 Person with different abilities under various interventions
  • 1 District Civil Society Network is formed at District level.
  • 2 Tehsil Action Groups are formed.
  • Offices of 20 CSOs were equipped with furniture and IT equipment
  • 405 members (235 Males, 164 Females, 6 TG) inclusive 33 persons from religious minorities and 25 Person with different abilities were trained on Rules and Laws for CSOs (Record Keeping, Financial management, procurement, HR management and etc.)
  • 402 members (207 Males, 190 Females, 5 TG) inclusive 45 persons from religious minorities and 11 Person with different abilities were trained on Project Cycle Management
  • The District Civil Society Network has a strong liaison with line authorities and achieved very prominent milestones in coordination of district line authorities:
  • Allocation of 4 facilitation centers in targeted UCs in coordination with Solid Waste Management Company where targeted communities can register their complaints.
  •  Establishment of women empowerment centers at targeted UC offices in coordination with local government where women can get information about ongoing economic opportunities and campaigns. Inclusion of youth volunteers in the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
  • 2478 members (1314 Males, 1154 Females, 12 TG) including 96 persons from religious minorities and 44 Persons with different abilities were trained in Project Cycle Management, Stakeholder engagement & and advocacy skills, Government Laws (basic human rights, right to information-RTI, Right to services-RTS, Right to Food RTF), Sensitization & Orientation on COVID-19 SOPs, Risk communication and community engagement (COVID-19 RCCE, Community Score Card approach for CSOs, Training on Poverty Score Card Approach and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.
  • 240 youth members (136 Males, 101 Females, 3 TG) inclusive 11 persons from religious minorities and 04 Person with different abilities were given Vocational Skills in the fields of Beautician, Computer Application, cooking, house-keeping, domestic tailoring, e-commerce, electrician and graphic designing along with standard tool kits to start their own venture or successful job employment. Supported LAs in mass awareness regarding RCCE and SBCC.
  •  20 Union Councils inclusive Development Plans were developed.
