Theme-IV: Disaster Risk Reduction for Building Resilience among Local Communities (DRR)

Geographical Coverage:  District Dadu Tehsil Mehar UC(Qazi Arif, Baledai & Mangwani) Programme Duration: October 2022 to June 15, 2023  Introduction/ Background of Programme: Farmers' Development Organization (FDO) in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has implemented an emergency program in District Dadu Sindh Pakistan with the financial support of USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) in response to widespread flooding with severe repercussions for human lives, food stock, infrastructure, and livelihoods. The Emergency Assistance for Flood Affected Households project has provided critical support to vulnerable households to meet their basic needs with dignity, to prevent the further erosion of household assets and accelerate recovery, contributing to the further resilience of affected households and communities. The project will achieve this goal through 02 purposes:

  • Vulnerable flood-affected households in Pakistan meet their basic needs through cash assistance;
  • Flood-affected households in Pakistan improve hygiene practices and have access to safe and dignified WASH infrastructures and services.
Key Achievement/ Project Activities:
  • 79 Village/location committees formation in BBCM
  • Endorsement of 4800 HHs of MPCA from Village Committees
  • Endorsement of 6794 HHs of MPCA from Village Committees
  • Distribution of Cash through FSP - Cycle 1 among 3994 beneficiaries
  • Identified of location/clusters for 1437 latrine installation
  • Installation/Construction of 1298 Emergency Pit Latrines and 1437 latrine material distributed
  • Dismantling and Decommissioning of 100 Latrines
  • 6500 beneficiaries registered at HH level (NFI's Kits) - refer to joint registration where possible
  • 6500 Hygiene Kits distributed
  • 540 Hygiene Promotion Session at Village Level
  • Assessment of 676 potential water sources for repair
